Description

This module is an optional, advanced module, which will allow students to (i) develop an understanding of selected specialized EU law areas; (ii) develop transferable legal skills; and (iii) reflect on how their academic studies interact with the world of legal practice. The module will cover a selection of topics in EU business and commercial law, such as for instance EU competition law, EU corporate law, EU financial law, EU internal market law, EU conflicts of law regulations. Students will be introduced to the legal frames and contemporary issues for each of the relevant topics and invited to engage in debate on such issues in the lectures/classes. The seminar work will focus on developing practical case studies on relevant issues. Students will work on the case studies independently and will be encouraged to apply different legal skills, such as researching practical issues, preparing presentations for a professional audience, and structuring and drafting a legal memorandum.
